The Politics of Action

The street is the site of the mobility transition and a key spatial resource for greenspace justice and climate adaptation. Many innovative projects to reduce car-traffic and cool down public space have been implemented over the last years. Yet progress still is too slow for the rapid changing climate. How can we make our cities climate-resilient faster? What instruments exist to push the necessary transition? What creates momentum for a policy of action? Lecture Learning(s) from Barcelona by Xavi Matilla (Chief planer of Barcelona 2019-2023) and discussion with Barbara Laa (TU Vienna, Wir machen Wien), Thomas Madreiter (Director of Planning, Vienna), Melanie Pichler (BOKU Vienna) and Judith Schwentner (Deputy Mayor of Graz). Moderator: Maik Novotny.
In Kooperation mit Az W Architekturzentrum Wien.

The event can also be followed via Livestream.
