School of Walking: Zukunft für Zukunftshof?

Promises imbedded in the language with Andreas Gugumuck, Karoline Mayer and Klaus Schafler

The School of Walking sheds light on the investments of citizens, democratic questions and questions of the law. The artists Bik Van der Pol (NL) invite Eveline Moser (Zukunftshof), Klaus Schafler (curator, KEX am Zukunftshof) and Karoline Mayer (curator, photographer, filmmaker) to lead a walk at Zukunftshof, a site that speaks back to these urgencies, taking into account promises imbedded in the language: The Zukunftshof, nestled in the rural and agricultural surroundings of Rothneusiedl, Oberlaa and Unterlaa, is surrounded by over 125 hectares of fertile farmland, which is also the largest urban development area in the city of Vienna. At the Zukunftshof, committed spatial pioneers from a wide range of disciplines have come together to ask themselves what the city of the future should look like in Rothneusiedl: How could socio-ecologically oriented urban development be organized spatially and socially? How can we make our cities more resilient and less dependent on supra-regional supply chains and how can productive urban landscapes and places such as the Zukunftshof contribute to this? How can cities be conceived and developed as ecosystems? The School of Walking explores what future is in there for Zukunftshof taking climate crisis, food security and urban development that reacts to the challenges of our time into account.
