This year, Vienna was voted the most liveable city in the world and the European Capital of Democracy at the same time, and Alsergrund is now part of the climate team. So, we should be able to get the climate crisis under control here democratically, shouldn't we? The walk through the 9th district with democracy expert Tamara Ehs and researcher and activist Barbara Laa discusses the connections between democracy, participation and successful measures against the climate crisis.

The School of Walking starts at the Climate Lab Spittelau, visits the artistic intervention »Cabriobeet« and the citizens' initiative Supergrätzl Lichtental, walks along the Alserbach that runs underground and reflects on its renaturalisation, explores Liechtensteinpark, takes a look at the car-free Boltzmanngasse and Palais Clam-Gallas to reflect on ownership of green recreational spaces for all. Finally, we discuss activism in Votivpark, the meeting place for Radln 4 Future.

Wien ist heuer zeitgleich zur lebenswertesten Stadt der Welt als auch zur Europäischen Demokratiehauptstadt gewählt, zudem ist der Alsergrund nun Teil des Klimateams. Also, sollten wir die Klimakrise hier doch demokratisch locker in den Griff bekommen, nicht? Der Spaziergang durch den 9. Bezirk mit der Demokratieexpertin Tamara Ehs und der Verkehrsforscherin und Aktivistin Barbara Laa erörtert die Zusammenhänge zwischen Demokratie, Partizipation und erfolgreichen Maßnahmen gegen die Klimakrise.

Die School of Walking beginnt im Climate Lab Spittelau, besucht die künstlerische Intervention »Cabriobeet« und die Bürgerinitiative Supergrätzl Lichtental, spaziert über den eingewölbten Alserbach und denkt über seine Renaturierung nach, erkundet den Liechtensteinpark, wirft einen Blick in die autofreie Boltzmanngasse und zum Palais Clam-Gallas, um über Eigentumsverhältnisse bei grünen Erholungsräumen für alle zu reflektieren. Abschließend tauschen wir uns im Votivpark, dem Treffpunkt für Radln 4 Future, über Aktivismus aus.
