Ute Schneider (TU Vienna)

Ute Schneider studied at University of Applied Sciences Konstanz, after training as a carpenter and several years of experience in interior design. She studied architecture and urban planning at the University of Stuttgart, the University of Karlsruhe and the TU Delft. In 2002, she founded her own office and at the same time began her collaboration with KCAP, where she is now a partner. She has been head of the Research Unit of Urban Design at TU Wien since March 2021.

Planning: The Future of Space

Temporality – the question of the possible relations between past, present, and future – has always been inscribed in planning, both as a discipline of knowledge and as a field of action. How can we deal with the apparent discrepancies between long-term, large-scale planning projects and the necessity of reacting quickly to changes and challenges? What can a democratic, climate- and ressource-­friendly way of engaging with urban space look like?
