Feminist Nightscapes

Night walk with Elke Krasny, Sophie Lingg and Claudia Lomoschitz

FLINTA* groups stroll through the night in a feminist city. They discover places, sing, perform scores, stroll, corner, and support one another. The feminist city allows all bodies and genders to move freely. How can this be explored in Vienna? Which places in the city do you rarely visit and where would you want to hang out with a group of people?

Feminist Nightscapes is an ongoing feminist urban practice in the form of collective night walks. The night represents a time of heightened urban injustice and violence. Based on this observation of gender-specific and racialised infrastructural urban injustice, Elke Krasny, Sophie Lingg and Claudia Lomoschitz have been initiating Feminist Night Walks since 2020. The aim is to collectively reclaim the night and counteract dimensions of urban injustice. Each walk takes a critical and joyful look at the respective urban infrastructures. Feminist Nightscapes take place in respectful memory of and in solidarity with all those who have been fighting for ›Take Back the Night‹ since 1975.
