(Con)temporary Urbanism
Tactical, DIY, and temporary urbanism have long served as powerful tools in the city-makers' toolkit. Join the international panel of urban practitioners from Austria, Slovenia and Slovakia who will reflect what still works, what doesn’t, and what needs to evolve. How can we respond to the shifting challenges facing our cities? Do we need new approaches – or entirely new tools — to meet the complexities of contemporary urban life? What kinds of environments are still open to tactical improvement, and which now demand more systemic change? Is a bucket of paint and a stack of wooden pallets truly enough to transform a street—or are we romanticizing simplicity? How do we navigate the entangled timelines of quick wins, slow maintenance cycles, and the endless loop of official approvals? Most crucially: how do we cultivate the patience needed to see through the changes we fight for?
The event is supported by the Slovenian Culture and Information Centre in Austria (SKICA).
